Stacking The Shelves #2 (IMM)

This is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga's Reviews where you basically display all the books you've received in the past week.

Hi guys! I've been away from home for some days so I don't have pictures of books with me neither do I know if other ones have arrived. This is what I had before I left!

Purchased:
For Kindle

For Review:
ARCs
Thank you to Random House for sending me a copy!

From Netgalley
For Blog Tour/s
Stops here on November 14 (Review & Excerpt)

I've been so caught up with reading old and new released Young Adult books that I haven't given much thought to reading New Adult/Adult books. Especially for romance! I've heard so many good things about Taking Shots, Defying The Odds & Star Crossed so I'm very excited to read those. I've also seen recent blog hype about Onyx by Jennifer L. Armentrout, which is book #2 in the series. I want to see what it's all about so I bought the prequel, Shadows, and the first book, Obsidian.

I was so happy to find Every Day sitting in my mailbox, I didn't expect to get it but I did. The book releases on the 28th of this month so watch out for it! I'll have a review up sometime soon.

Special thanks to Shane @ Itching For Books for approving me as one the tour stops in Undeadly. I really liked the synopsis and I'm excited to get started on this!

Hope you all had amazing week! I'm going to be starting school this week so I may or may not be posting consistently for a little while.

Waiting On Wednesday #5: Gravity

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by BreakingTheSpine that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.
This week's pre-publication "can't-wait-to-read" selection is:

Book Stats:
Gravity by Melissa West
(Book #1 of The Taking)
Pages: 400; Paperback
Publisher: Entangled Publishing
Expected Publication Date: 10/16/12
Reading Level: Young Adult
Genre: Fantasy, Sci-fi, Mystery, Romance
Goodreads Summary: In the future, only one rule will matter: Don’t. Ever. Peek. Seventeen-year-old Ari Alexander just broke that rule and saw the last person she expected hovering above her bed--arrogant Jackson Locke, the most popular boy in her school. She expects instant execution or some kind of freak alien punishment, but instead, Jackson issues a challenge: help him, or everyone on Earth will die. Ari knows she should report him, but everything about Jackson makes her question what she’s been taught about his kind. And against her instincts, she’s falling for him. But Ari isn’t just any girl, and Jackson wants more than her attention. She’s a military legacy who’s been trained by her father and exposed to war strategies and societal information no one can know--especially an alien spy, like Jackson. Giving Jackson the information he needs will betray her father and her country, but keeping silent will start a war.
Why I'm anticipating it?
Usually, aliens would throw me off but I've been watching Falling Skies for some time lately and well... I guess you could say it started the whole alien phase for me. So a little dystopian, mystery and romance... how can a girl resist right?

What book titles are you guys impatiently waiting for?

Waiting On Wednesday #4: Unspoken

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by BreakingTheSpine that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.
This week's pre-publication "can't-wait-to-read" selection is:

Book Stats:
Unspoken by Sarah Rees Breenan
(Book #1 of The Lynburn Legacy)
Pages: 370; Hardcover
Publisher: Random House Books for Young Readers
Expected Publication Date: 9/11/12
Reading Level: Young Adult
Genre: Fantasy, Paranormal, Mystery, Romance
Goodreads Summary: Kami Glass loves someone she’s never met... a boy she’s talked to in her head ever since she was born. She wasn’t silent about her imaginary friend during her childhood, and is thus a bit of an outsider in her sleepy English town of Sorry-in-the-Vale. Still, Kami hasn’t suffered too much from not fitting in. She has a best friend, runs the school newspaper, and is only occasionally caught talking to herself. Her life is in order, just the way she likes it, despite the voice in her head. But all that changes when the Lynburns return. The Lynburn family has owned the spectacular and sinister manor that overlooks Sorry-in-the-Vale for centuries. The mysterious twin sisters who abandoned their ancestral home a generation ago are back, along with their teenage sons, Jared and Ash, one of whom is eerily familiar to Kami. Kami is not one to shy away from the unknown—in fact, she’s determined to find answers for all the questions Sorry-in-the-Vale is suddenly posing. Who is responsible for the bloody deeds in the depths of the woods? What is her own mother hiding? And now that her imaginary friend has become a real boy, does she still love him? Does she hate him? Can she trust him?
Why I am anticipating it?
Well, the logical side of me said "pass" when it came to "Kami Glass loves someone she's never met" but the hopeless romantic in me is screaming "YES!!!!!!". Sorry logic, I'm being hopeless and kind of romantic right now. Do you know how hard it is to want something you can't have? (not until Sept. 11, that is)
OH, THIS WORLD IS TOO CRUEL.

What book titles are you guys impatiently waiting for?

My Book Boyfriend #2: Carmine DeMarco

My Book Boyfriend is a weekly meme hosted by Missie at The Unread Reader.
I'm a sucker for boys with troubled pasts.
Eversince Christian Grey, My literature preferences along with their fictional characters have never been the same!

My Book Boyfriend #2:
Carmine DeMarco
from Sempre (Forever) by J.M. Darhower

About him:
- He is part Italian and part Irish
- Has green eyes that he inherited from his mom and
olive skin from his dad
-Tall & muscular
- He calls Haven his "tesoro" or treasure
- He loves Cherry Coke (By that I mean, regular coke with cherries on it!)
- He's tattooed. One of 'em said "Trust No One"
yet he's able to bring himself to trust Haven
- He witnessed the murder of his mother
- Speaks freaking Italian!
- He had virgin lips before Haven but definitely screwed around with a lot of girls
- Very temperamental, will almost fight anyone especially his bestfriend Nicholas
- Protective & Possessive
- He is known as the "Mafia Prince"
- Despite a hard shell, he will sacrifice his life and more for the people he loves

By his own words: “I'm not that bad,” he said. “I'm rich, popular. I have a sense of humor. I'm good looking, and not to mention I have a really big—”
Quotes that made me swoon:
He never went looking for it but trouble seemed to find him everytime he turned a corner and Carmine turned a lot of motherfucking corners."
Colpo di fulmine. The thunderbolt, as Italians call it. When love strikes someone like lightning, so powerful and intense it can’t be denied. It’s beautiful and messy,
cracking a chest open and spilling their soul out for the world to see. It turns a person inside out, and there’s no going back from it. Once the thunderbolt hits, your life is
irrevocably changed.”

"This peculiar girl had come out of nowhere, and he was afraid she was going to leave as quickly as she’d appeared. That she’d vanish from his life without a trace before he had a chance to know her. His chest ached at that thought, his insides on and the girl who caused it was oblivious to it all. In other words, Carmine thought, he was royally fucked."
“Sogni d'oro, mia bella ragazza,” he mumbled, closing his eyes. Sweet dreams, my beautiful girl.
He shook his head.  “You must not have any sense of self preser-vation left.”
“Fuck my life,” Carmine said. “She’s worth dying for.”

He is played by the extremely swoon-worthy model, Justin Sampson. He might not have fully vibrant green eyes but agh, one look at him just screams "Carmine!" to me.

Sempre (Forever) by J.M. Darhower is one of the books I've recently fallen head over heels for. It's a beautiful and heartbreaking story that had me on edge, furiously flipping page to page. I swear, I couldn't read fast enough at the time. If you haven't read it, I highly recommend it!

Waiting On Wednesday #2: The Raven Boys

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by BreakingTheSpine that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.
This week's pre-publication "can't-wait-to-read" selection is:

Book Stats:
The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater
(Book #1 of The Raven Cycle)
Pages: 416; Paperback
Publisher: Scholastic, INC.
Expected Publication Date: 9/18/2012
Reading Level: Young Adult
Genre: Fantasy, Paranormal, Mystery, Romance
Goodreads Summary:
“There are only two reasons a non-seer would see a spirit on St. Mark’s Eve,” Neeve said. “Either you’re his true love . . . or you killed him.”It is freezing in the churchyard, even before the dead arrive.Every year, Blue Sargent stands next to her clairvoyant mother as the soon-to-be dead walk past. Blue herself never sees them—not until this year, when a boy emerges from the dark and speaks directly to her.His name is Gansey, and Blue soon discovers that he is a rich student at Aglionby, the local private school. Blue has a policy of staying away from Aglionby boys. Known as Raven Boys, they can only mean trouble. But Blue is drawn to Gansey, in a way she can’t entirely explain. He has it all—family money, good looks, devoted friends—but he’s looking for much more than that. He is on a quest that has encompassed three other Raven Boys: Adam, the scholarship student who resents all the privilege around him; Ronan, the fierce soul who ranges from anger to despair; and Noah, the taciturn watcher of the four, who notices many things but says very little. For as long as she can remember, Blue has been warned that she will cause her true love to die. She never thought this would be a problem. But now, as her life becomes caught up in the strange and sinister world of the Raven Boys, she’s not so sure anymore. From Maggie Stiefvater, the bestselling and acclaimed author of the Shiver trilogy and The Scorpio Races, comes a spellbinding new series where the inevitability of death and the nature of love lead us to a place we’ve never been before.
Why I'm anticipating it?
Well, I haven't read any of Maggie Stiefvater's work before (Yes, I'm a "Wolves Of Mercy Falls" virgin), I've been planning to read it for a while but I just haven't got into it. But anyways, with all the high ratings of her works, I'm pretty sure the craze cannot be just hype. I just read the summary for The Raven Boys and it was enough to pull me in! Did you say BOYS? Count me in!

Add it to your TBR shelf:
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (Harry Potter, #4)
