Book Stats:
Wicked Kiss by Michelle Rowen
(Book #2 of Nightwatchers)
Format: Paperback, 304 pages
Publisher: Harlequin Teen
Expected Publication Date: 2/26/2013
Goodreads Summary: MY KISS CAN KILL. I used to be ordinary Samantha Day, but that's changed. Now, after one dark kiss from a dangerous boy, I can steal someone's soul...or their life. If I give in to the constant hunger inside me, I hurt anyone I kiss. If I don't... I hurt myself. Bishop is the one whose kiss I crave most, but if I kiss him, I'll kill him. Then there's another boy, one I can't hurt. One whose kiss seems to miraculously quell my hunger. They're both part of a team of angels and demons that's joined forces in my city to fight a mysterious rising darkness, an evil that threatens everyone I know and love. I just wonder if I'll be able to help Bishop-or if I'm just another part of the darkness he's sworn to destroyWhen angels and demons must work together, something beyond evil is rising...

Book Stats:
Lullaby by Amanda Hocking
(Book #2 of Watersong)
Format: Hardcover, 290 pages
Publisher: St. Martin's Griffin
Expected Publication Date: 11/27/2012
Goodreads Summary: Harper only wanted a safe, normal life. But when her younger sister Gemma runs off with a dangerous clique of beautiful girls, Penn, Thea, and Lexi, everything changes. Vowing to get her sister back no matter what the cost, Harper must face dangers unlike any she's ever experienced. Fortunately, she has Daniel by her side, a gorgeous guy who's devoted to helping her find her sister—and who's immune to the girls' dark powers. While Harper searches for her sister, Gemma struggles to adjust to her new life. Gemma's powers are growing by the day, and the longer she lives with her new "sisters," the harder it is to resist entering their magical world. It's a realm both dark and beautiful, and where she's plagued by strange hungers and unspeakable needs. Just as she's drifting far away from her old life, Harper and Daniel find her...but no one can deny how much she's changed. All she wants is to return to her family and the mortal world, but how can she do that when she's become something else entirely—and will they still love her once they learn the truth? Prepare to fall under the spell of Lullaby, the second book in the Watersong series from New York Times bestselling author Amanda Hocking.
I have not read Dark Kiss by Michelle Rowen (well, I read 4 chapters from a sampler) and Wake by Amanda Hocking. Both are the predecessors of Wicked Kiss and Lullaby. Knowing there's sequels coming out soon, I'm really motivated to read it as soon as I possibly can. I love the Lullaby cover but I'm really not a fan of the Wicked Kiss cover.

Cover Reveal: This Is What Happy Looks Like by Jennifer E. Smith

Book Stats:
This Is What Happy Looks Like
by Jennifer E. Smith
Publisher: Poppy, Little Brown & Co.
Expected Publication Date: 4/23/2013
Reading Level: Young Adult
Genre: Contemporary, Romance
Goodreads Summary: If fate sent you an email, would you answer? In This is What Happy Looks Like, Jennifer E. Smith's new YA novel, perfect strangers Graham Larkin and Ellie O'Neill meet—albeit virtually—when Graham accidentally sends Ellie an email about his pet pig, Wilbur. In the tradition of romantic movies like "You've Got Mail" and "Sleepless in Seattle," the two 17-year-olds strike up an email relationship, even though they live on opposite sides of the country and don't even know each other's first names. Through a series of funny and poignant messages, Graham and Ellie make a true connection, sharing intimate details about their lives, hopes and fears. But they don't tell each other everything; Graham doesn't know the major secret hidden in Ellie's family tree, and Ellie is innocently unaware that Graham is actually a world-famous teen actor living in Los Angeles. When the location for the shoot of Graham's new film falls through, he sees an opportunity to take their relationship from online to in-person, managing to get the production relocated to picturesque Henley, Maine, where Ellie lives. But can a star as famous as Graham have a real relationship with an ordinary girl like Ellie? And why does Ellie's mom want her to avoid the media's spotlight at all costs? Just as they did in The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight, the hands of fate intervene in wondrous ways in this YA novel that delivers on high concept romance in lush and thoughtful prose.
I have a soft spot for Contemporaries and this just sounds perfect for me. I haven't actually read her most talked about book, The Statistical Probability of Love At First Sight but I've been meaning to! It's been in TBR pile for too long. I'm not particularly wow-ed by the cover but I like how it exudes young love. I do love that she created a similar cover with that novel even though this isn't a sequel or companion novel.

What is cover face-off?
Basically this is where I compare covers of US vs. UK, the new vs. the old, paperback vs. hardcover and etc! We'll be keeping a tally for all of them.

I've been meaning to read this book, gotta love dystopians! I figured I'd feature this one because it also has gone through a several of cover changes.
US Covers:
Left: This is the old cover (very first) of The Hunt. I really do like the photograph and the eerie colors but I'm not a fan of the font. I'm glad they changed it.
Rating:
Right: Andrew Fukuda released the new Hardcover of The Hunt last January (See post here). I didn't really get the significance of the torn paper effect so I figured it's just nothing but looks definitely more interesting than the old one.
Rating:

UK Covers:
I thought it was funny when I read somewhere that the cover model looks like Kim Kardashian's former hubby, Kris Humphries. I couldn't help but agree! Not really a fan of portrait covers but he does look more menacing and I really like the font, it gives off the horror vibe that this book was going for.

Mini Cover Reveal:
Heroes & Heartbreakers exclusively released the paperback cover of The Hunt and also the cover of it's sequel, The Prey coming out in 2013.

Cover Face-Off: Days Of Blood And Starlight by Laini Taylor

Today in
we are featuring....
DAYS OF BLOOD AND STARLIGHT
BY LAINI TAYLOR
(Book #2 of Daughter of Smoke and Bone)
Format: Hardcover, 528 pages
Publisher: Little Brown & Co.
Expected Publication Date: 11/16/2012
Reading Level: Young Adult
Genre: Urban Fantasy, Paranormal, Romance
Add to shelf: Goodreads
Pre-order: AmazonBarnes & Noble
Goodreads Summary: In this stunning sequel to the highly acclaimed "Daughter of Smoke and Bone", Karou must come to terms with who and what she is, and how far she'll go to avenge her people. Filled with heartbreak and beauty, mysteries and secrets, new characters and old favorites, Days of Blood and Starlight brings the richness, color and intensity of the first book to a brand new canvas. Daughter of Smoke and Bone was declared a "must read" by Entertainment Weekly, was named a Best Book of the Year by Amazon.com, and The New York Times called it "a breath-catching romantic fantasy."
What is cover face-off?
Basically this is where I compare covers of US vs. UK, the new vs. the old, paperback vs. hardcover and etc! We'll be keeping a tally for all of them.

I'm only in the process of reading Daughter Smoke and Bone. I've stopped but I'm going to resume soon since the sequel is nearly up for grabs in the next few months! Ms. Laini Taylor has revealed Days of Blood & Starlight cover for the US for a while now and she recently revealed the UK version. I also added its predecessor's covers, so let's both compare them, shall we?

US Covers:

Cover on the left is the final cover of Days of Blood and Starlight. It stayed very similar to how the first one was composed. Though gorgeous and more clean, I think this one lacked the "interesting" factor that pulled me in to read Daughter of Smoke and Bone. The red is just very bland from the electric blue in the first one.
Rating: ★★★★
Cover on the right is the cover of Daughter of Smoke and Bone that I really like. It's weirdly interesting, with all the feathers plus the title but I wasn't really a fan of the font. I just think it was overkill.
Rating: ★★★★

vs.

UK Covers:

Cover on the left is the newly revealed UK cover of Days of Blood and Starlight. Although I'd have to say I like the simplicity format and font of its cover, the stock images are too boring for my taste. For a Young Adult book, this would seem to me, if I was a 16 year old walking in a bookstore, that this could be a boring Adult book instead.
 Rating: ★★★
Cover on the right is the hardcover of Daughter of Smoke and Bone. Again, I like the simplicity but its not something that would have wanted had me to stop and stare!
 Rating: ★★★

All About Covers!

Hello my lovely readers! Today, I just want to introduce to you a new feature that I will be starting here in Everything A-TO-C and it's called...

Yes. Covers, covers, covers! I know you love them as much as I do. We rave and squeal about them just as much as the characters and the stories itself! To me, it's the art within an art. Just seeing the cover of a book showcases a thing or two about it so we can forget the saying, "Don't judge a book by its cover" here in All About Covers, because as far as covers go... the prettier, the better!

I actually don't consider consistently posting these in a weekly schedule but if anything, I'll keep you guys posted.

I will be breaking down this feature in 4 sub-categories which are Cover Reveal, Cover Face-Off, Cover Couple and last but definitely not the least, Cover Confessions.

Now let me elaborate on them by starting with the first one which is Cover Reveal.
Well, the title is pretty much self-explanatory! Here I will feature reveals I've signed up for and just new released covers I've stumbled upon.
Which will be posted whenever there is a newly revealed cover!

Second is Cover Face-Off. Basically this is where I compare covers of US vs. UK, The New vs. The Old, paperback vs. hardcover and etc!
Which will be posted weekly through Saturdays!

Third is Cover Couple. This is where I go Blue's Clues on you! Well, not really but there are some titles out there with the same stock photo and I don't know about you but I love spotting them and comparing them.
Which will be posted 2 a month on Mondays!

Lastly, we have Cover Confessions. This is pretty general. Whether it's a cover that speaks out to me or just one that looks very interesting? Expect it to be featured here!
Which will posted whenever (except Mondays, Saturdays or when a cover was revealed a day before)

I hope you guys like this feature. I've given it much thought and I know I will have lots of fun posting these. If you would like to do the same thing, please feel free to link up your cover posts over in the comments section!

 Rating: ★★★

Ding-ding-ding! The winner of this cover face-off by one-star downfall is... US!

Tallies: US-1 UK-0
New-0 Old-0
Hardcover-0 Paperback-0

Hope you like my very first cover face-off, I'm sure there will be many more to come.
