Musings from A-TO-C #1: Goodreads Love

Hello everyone! Welcome to my first post of Musings from A-TO-C. This is not a weekly meme and I will not be posting these in a consistent manner. It's more of "when I got something to say" type of thing! I might not have much most of the time but when I do, expect me to put it on under here.

So what do I have to say now? One word. Goodreads.

Wait, nevermind on that one word cause I got shitload to say!
Book lovers and bloggers, I'm pretty sure most of you are familiar with the site.
But for those who are not, What is Goodreads you ask?

*Copied from Goodreads
Goodreads is the largest site for readers and book recommendations in the world. We have more than 9,600,000 members who have added more than 340,000,000 books to their shelves. A home for casual readers and bona-fide bookworms alike, Goodreads users recommend books, compare what they are reading, keep track of what they've read and would like to read, find their next favorite book, form book clubs and much more. Goodreads was launched in January 2007.

My own experience:

I have only been a member of this amazing site since March 2012. It cured my Facebook addiction, only to start another one. It all started from looking up "The Hunger Games" on Google & voila! I stumbled across this peculiar site. From looking at 1 book, it has now grown to a total of 1,037 books (read, tbr, currently reading combined) in my profile.

Why I love Goodreads?

Uno. You don't find much sites nowadays who stay truthful to what they say they're intended to be.

That's the slogan that greeted me when I was signing up. It reminded of like.. dating sites and as the skeptic that I am, it seems a little bit too good to be true. But 5 months after of being an avid member, I have read 50+ books so far this year. I probably "met" more than half of those books through goodreads and fell in love with it.

So damn, if goodreads was a dating site, I proclaim it baby-making-effective!

It's such a helpful and innovative way for readers to find the next big thing for their bookshelves. The recommendations are usually spot on but just looking through the site will have you adding and adding novels to your TBR shelf.

Dos. The lovely bunch of people

This community is world wide. Who would have thought I'd be sharing thoughts from someone in Australia? or receiving a friend request from someone in England? It's so fun to interact and share all the weird crap that nobody else 15 ft. of you might want to hear. Friends don't let friends drive drunk and that's how we roll in Goodreads!

Tres. Speak your ever lovin' mind!

Well, I was never one to read a book and be compelled to spill my guts about it even though I probably have a million things to say. Because for dilemmas like where would I post it? and second, should I? third, who would read it? After being hesitant about writing my first review on Goodreads, all those thoughts just vanished.
My CRAZY has finally found a comforting home.

Goodreads became the starting step to my book blogging!

Quatro. Keepin' track

Okay, I'm definitely not the most organized person and when it comes to reading, Goodreads is like my personal assistant! Currently reading books, TBR and read books? This baby's got my back!

Cinco. Freebies

I have won 2 books now from Goodreads giveaways and still waiting for the 3rd one to come in the mail. I was once a skeptic but this is the real deal guys. Easy and safe way to win amazing books!

We love hearing what you think! Please leave your feedback below and I'll get back to you as soon as I possibly can.

This blog is an award free zone. I'm very flattered that you want to honor us with an award, but with running a very tight schedule with real life and blogging, I cannot promise to reciprocate the awards.
